Thursday August 17

We woke up, had breakfast in the room, and took the subway one stop to Ottaviano to go to the Mercato Trionfale (fresh fruit, veggies, cheese and meat market). Not too many places were open so we walked through quickly and took the bus to Trastevere for our cooking class. The cooking class was around 5 or 6 hours long, very informative and delicious! We made zucchini flowers beer battered and fried with variations of veggies, mozzarella and mortadella, fresh pasta with red sauce, stuffed bell peppers and a custard dessert. Afterwards, we sleepily walked to a piazza to find the crew for Trust filming again. We saw Hillary Swank in person! We then visited a church, sat on some steps, and Mike got a coffee and we walked a bit. We walked over to Campo di Fiori, and Mike got a red wine and I got a Hugo. The filming for Trust followed us there! Then we went back to Trastevere and ate dinner at Taverna Trilussa, which was a restaurant that the chef from the cooking class recommended. Mike called them to get a reservation, and they told us they wouldn't have one until 10pm, so we almost didn't go. But Mike wanted to go check it out anyway, and it was a good thing, because they actually did have a table available right away, and we were able to eat at this delicious restaurant. The pasta, ravioli and sauces were perfect! Amazing. We walked around a bit and Mike was intrigued by people sitting on some steps. Turns out there was a bar there. It was called Freni e Frizioli, and the menu spoofed famous punk records. I got this great drink that had limoncello foam (who knew that was a thing?!) on it. Mike got a couple of drinks with amaro in them. It was a very cool bar with a terrace seating and a lot of really cool and interesting art, and reminded us a bit of some show spots around Philadelphia. We got gelato from Old Bridge (there's one in Trastevere) and took the bus back to the hotel and went to bed.

Old signs they had up for the filming of that TV show.
